lily-nilly

Check out the proofs for our cool ass wedding stickers:

Pretty, yes? We're going to be using them as labels for our favours; they were made by the Littlebeane Boutique shop on etsy.com (one of my favourite places on the internet).

As for the favours themselves... every guest at our wedding will be receiving a Navona lily bulb to take home and plant.

The bulbs are from Lilies from the Valley, a really neat business that operates out of Nova Scotia. They clean up and sell the bulbs from previously harvested plants, which will continue to flower for many years. We thought they would be the perfect thing to give our guests, both for their longevity, and because both Megan and I will be carrying lilies in our bouquets.

"naughty but nice" shower

I must admit, I'm feeling a little bit spoiled lately. This past weekend, my wonderful aunt Jeanne hosted a bridal shower for me in Barrie. The theme was "naughty but nice" -- guests were instructed to bring one gift for day-to-day living, and a second one for honeymooning. Needless to say, the theme lent itself well to embarrassment and hilarity. Credit goes to my cousin Emma for putting together my sexy shower outfit:

It was so much fun to spend the afternoon with (most of) the amazing women in my family. Thanks everyone, you guys are the best!

our plan to escape from the clutches of civilization

We've opted for a low-key, rustic honeymoon. Here are some pictures of the cottage we've rented for the week following the wedding -- hopefully, it will be just enough time for us to decompress a bit before we both head back to work.

The cottage is right on Salmon Trout Lake, 19 km outside of Bancroft, Ontario.

a musical interlude

We both love music a lot and want to make sure that our wedding has an awesome soundtrack. We are lucky enough to have some very talented musicians as friends, so the music at our reception will mostly be performed live. We were also pretty picky about what songs will be playing during the important moments of our wedding; I've uploaded some mp3 files so that you can check out our picks and see what you think!

Processional: We will be walking down the aisle to "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space" by Spiritualized. It's not exactly a traditional wedding song, but from the first time I heard it, I knew that this was the song I wanted to get married to.

Recessional: Basia Bulat has a beautiful song called "Little Waltz" that will be walking out to. Not only is it gorgeous, but some of our friends play on this track, which makes it extra special.

First dance: Andrew is a huge Ron Sexsmith fan, so it seemed fitting to include him in our wedding plans. We will be having our first dance to "Reason For Our Love", performed live by my dad.

stag and DONE

We had a fantastic time at our stag and doe, which took place in London between Christmas and New Years. And it seems that everyone else did, too -- I mean, come on, with games like "Jail", "Strip the Groom", "Tricycle Races" and "Pin the Mustache on the Bride", how could you not?

It was also a really good learning experience: despite a number of technical glitches, things ultimately went well, in the end. As such, it was probably a good practice run for the wedding, since I'm sure not everything will unfold exactly as planned.

Finally, a big THANK YOU to everyone who made it out to party with us, and especially those who helped us keep things running smoothly. And just FYI, it was a resounding financial success as well as a good party -- just this week, we used some of the revenue to pay for our wedding bands. All in all, a great night.

the grand unveiling...

...and yes, I like to wear this around the house, too.

I also got me one of these:

But don't you dare call it a "tiara" -- it's just a headband, I swear!

glove love

These are really fun to wear around the house.

And yes, this is in fact the second pair of long gloves that I've bought in recent history. As we've already established, I have indecisiveness problems.
